College of Engineering
College of Engineering adopted Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea (ABEEK) and is currently operating for innovation of engineering education, enhancing educational capability by constructing a close academic-industrial cooperation system and putting emphasis on the creation of foundation of practical engineering education based on the basic science and creativity.
Undergraduate
School of Civil, Environmental & Urban-Transportation Engineering is composed of three majors of civil engineering, environmental engineering and urbantransportation engineering, aiming at cultivation of excellent talents who will contribute to construction of human-centered infrastructure, diagnosis, assessment and settlement of environmental problems, and creation of a sustainable and convenient city.
To preserve natural environment and promote effective development of national land and convenient human life, the Major of Civil Engineering aims to cultivate professional talents with knowledge necessary for planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of infrastructure.
Environmental engineering technology(Environmental Technology, ET) is a future-oriented learning which will grow as three growth industries in the 21st century with IT and BT, which is also a public technology closely connected with public welfare, social overhead capital construction policy of the state. For cultivation of manpower specialized in the environmental engineering, the Major of Environmental Engineering educates water resources, treatment of water and sewage • waste water, management and control of air pollution, soil environment, disposal of waste, noise and vibration controlling technology, ecological system restoration technology and environmental energy convergence technology that are indispensable to human life.
Urban-Transportation Engineering is a synthetic learning that deals with planned development and management of urban space and transportation facilities to decorate urban space, the center of modern life to a beautiful and convenient base of life. Especially, to make an e-city in the era of the future ubiquitous, education for various detailed major fields such as planning, design, development of city and transportation and GIS are provided to cultivate professional manpower capable of establishing a creative and rational plan by investigating and analyzing conditions of urban space.
Department of Nano Chemical Materials Engineering, Department of Materials Science and Engineering and Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering are combined into one and is operated as a single school. Learning process, structure, property and function of chemical and new material field including high polymer material, a common element of each department, student, based on the foregoing, will be also learning detailed major considering characteristics of each department. Developing working level ability by completing major and field education based on chemical and engineering, new material and high polymer, students will develop ability to cope actively with rapidly-changing social demand.
Other than traditional fields such as chemical industry, oil and oil refining industry etc., the Major of Chemical and Biological Engineering cultivates talents with ability to perform a pivotal role in development, design and operation of process in bio-industry, environmental/energy industry and new material industry.
Major of Materials Science and Engineering is for researching metal•electronics•ceramic•composite material that are forming the basis of science and engineering field, and applied field such as function improvement of material and development of new materials as well as basic theory of the structure, property, process and function of new material.
As a core department for nano science technology, the Major of Polymer Science & Engineering educates synthesis, design, evaluation of polymer engineering, surface modification, shape, processing etc., and aims to cultivate engineers having both theory and practice to cope actively with the latest technology internationally and socially in high polymer engineering industry
Composed of the Major of Industrial & Management Engineering and Major of Safety Engineering, the school aims to cultivate site-oriented talents with expertise and practical ability for rationalization of management and prevention of disaster in the overall industrial circles embracing manufacturing and service industry.
Industrial & Management Engineering is a study on the management skills operating a system with a rational and scientific method on the basis of the knowledge of engineering•business administration. The Major verifies organic activities on the overall aspects of engineering and educates scientific management methods.
The Major of Safety Engineering cultivates specialized safety technicians capable of suggesting countermeasures for disaster prevention by educating students to have ability to protect life, property and environment from accidents that are being diversified and larger, and analyze and evaluate factors of accidents and risks.
School of Architecture is composed of the major of engineering-based architecture (4-Year) that educates building structure, construction•material, facilities•environmental technology, and the major of design-based architecture (5-Year) that teaches planning and design of architecture.
To foster creative, moral and international professional manpower in architecture, the Major of Architectural Engineering is equipped with a curriculum for cuttingedge architectural engineering technology and practical design program. The Major is carrying out practical education through ICT-based construction information education, on-the-spot study, experience and experiment on building structure, construction•material, facilities•environment fields.
Aiming at cultivating qualified international architects, the Major reorganized to 5-year and has operated a professional architectural degree program from 2003, and obtained certification from Korea Architectural Accrediting Board (KAAB). Educational objective of the Major is 「Sustainable Architecture」 through the regional basis.
With ideology of education that creates aesthetic order and function according to the plan considering human, future and environment, School of Design is composed of the Major of Communication Design and Major of Industrial Design.
Major of Industrial Design is a field for the optimum and creative design through access to the problems of human, product, environment, space and culture from various angles. Thus, the Major of Industrial Design, focusing on the curriculum for cultivation of professional designers, aims at cultivating designers with specialized ability as a design developer and integrator by enabling students to build up logical development of thought, analytical skills and creative formative ability that students must have as a professional designer.
Through convergence design embracing overall aspects of design, the Major of Communication Design puts values of educational goal on visual thinking and development of spatial expressivity for achievement of the objectives of various image communications. In addition, the Major is setting a goal of cultivating integrative and professional designers based on creative idea and design thinking with creative and holistic design education that understands overall fields of design through differentiated and varied lectures.
As a school which will play a pivotal role in the knowledge and information society of the future, the School of Computer Engineering & Information Technology is composed of the Major of Computer Engineering that fosters computer engineers capable of designing and developing hardware and software of embedded system, Major of Software educating overall processes of development of various software such as mobile, computer security, web, multimedia etc., and Major of Medical IT Engineering that cultivates key manpower who will in charge of a leading role in medical IT convergence industry by integrating basic medicine, data processing and IT engineering.
The Major of Computer Engineering sets a goal of cultivating computer engineers capable of designing embedded system hardware and developing software providing smart service in the ubiquitous environment where smart devices (smartphone, refrigerator, TV, PC, robot etc.) used commonly in modern life are mutually-connected through internet.
The Major educates various fields of software such as mobile, computer security, web, multimedia etc., and cultivates professional manpower developing high quality software by carrying out customized practical education meeting the demand of industries. For effective and fruitful practical education, the Major of Software is maximizing practical education, internship and employment opportunities by maintaining systematic academic-industrial cooperation with domestic and foreign software businesses.
The Major of Medical IT Engineering cultivates key manpower that will play a leading role in the converged IT industry where explosive demand for manpower is expected in the future by integrating basic medicine + data processing + IT engineering. After graduation, students can advance to various businesses such as various businesses, public institutions, public officials as well as heal care institutions including hospitals, medical device developing and manufacturing companies, IT companies specialized in medical information, businesses related to various IT industries, businesses developing various health care devices.
