Introduction

With globalization, digitalization, and changes in the educational environment—along with railway restructuring, the launch of high-speed rail, potential continental rail connections, and advances in integrated logistics—the importance of railway operations continues to grow. The Department of Railway Management and Logistics, the first of its kind in Korea, was established to train future leaders in railway management, logistics, and policy.

The program provides specialized education in railway operations and logistics, helping students understand structural issues in the railway transport market and develop problem‑solving capabilities. Foundational courses cover key economic principles relevant to the transition of the railway industry from monopoly to oligopoly, including market structure, pricing, service production, and logistics information. Advanced courses focus on railway demand analysis, transport system planning, facility design and operations, and the application of advanced information technologies. Industry‑academia cooperation programs also offer practical experience in railway organizations to strengthen students’ professional competencies.
