Thank you for visiting our website.

There is a saying that food and medicine are the same source. This is not just an Eastern

philosophy; Hippocrates, the father of Western medicine, also wrote the famous phrase "Let food

be your medicine" more than 2,500 years ago. This ordinary but extraordinary truth, "Eating good

food and eating well is the secret to good health," has gained more attention in the 21st century.

The average life expectancy in South Korea has surpassed 80 years and is approaching 100 years.

With life expectancy on the rise, people are paying more attention to their health than ever before.

"Wellness" and "healing" have become mega-trends, and the demand for healthy foods,

biomaterials, and proper eating habits is exploding as it is recognized that maintaining a healthy life

through prevention, rather than treatment after an illness, is a bigger challenge.

The Division of Food Science and Biotechnology at Korea National University of Transportation was established to contribute to the maintenance and promotion of human health by studying the functionality of food and nutrients and biomaterials in line with the changing health paradigm. The division, which consists of majors in Food Science and Technology, Food Nutrition, and Biotechnology, is attempting to integrate and diversify its disciplines from a broader perspective by crossing food, nutrition, and biomaterials. In addition, we are taking the lead in applying our expertise to the real world by partnering with various sectors of society such as industry and related organizations. Our efforts towards 'healthy living' have begun to bear fruit and we will continue to make efforts.

Finally, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who has visited the website of the

Division of Food Science and Biotechnolgy. We hope that through your encounter with our division, you will gain a wide range of academic information and increase your understanding and interest in

"food and life", which will lead the modern society in the 21st century.

Thank you.
