Dapartment of Chinese

Nice to meet you. Thank you for visiting the Department of Chinese Studies at Korea National University of Transportation. Our school's Chinese language department was approved by the Ministry of Education as early as 1995 and a new history began the following year by selecting new students. In 2016, to mark the 20th anniversary of the foundation of our department, we held various events with graduates to strengthen our status as a Chinese language department at Korea Transportation University. In the past 20 years, our department has held 15 Chinese language recital competitions for high school students, acting as a catalyst for improving Chinese language skills for high school students. In addition, many graduates produced by our department in the short school age of 20 years have been active as key figures in various fields in China as well as in Korea. They are always proud to be from the Department of Chinese Studies at Korea Transportation University and boast our school and department to the Chinese.

In our Department of Chinese Language at Korea Transportation University, many students are still cultivating professional knowledge about Chinese literature and language, and Chinese politics, economy and social culture. In addition, from the second grade, you will be selected as an exchange student at a sister university in China for a year, and there is an excellent educational environment for learning Chinese in China. This system has provided very favorable conditions for graduates of our department. And it is very important that from the second semester of 2019, our department is a department that currently serves as an associate professor by inviting a full-time Chinese professor, which is rare in Chinese majors across the country. The employment of full-time native-speaking professors not only raises the status of the department, but also has the advantage of being able to play an important role in various fields for majors. In the future, our Department of Chinese Language at Korea Transportation University will be a department that provides an in-depth understanding of China that cannot be compared to other universities' Chinese majors. I am sure that graduates who have acquired Chinese and understood China in our department will grow into members of society with a new perspective and freedom of consciousness that challenges more than anyone else. Thank you.

Introduction

In the classes of the Department of Chinese Language, starting with an essential understanding of Chinese, correct and strong Chinese skills are cultivated through lessons in pronunciation and grammar. There are many differences between the Chinese language department of Korea Transportation University and other schools. First of all, the three keywords that can be put forward in the difference are 'originality', 'persistence', and 'connection'. The 'originality' of our department in Chinese language education is that the category of linguistics is deviating from the creation of the department. In other words, it has overcome the existing humanities limitations that remained only in language and literature and expanded the horizon of Chinese language education to the field of social science. In order to deepen this, it is a major with original reading of modern China's politics and economy and developing high-current content, which has improved the understanding of college students in mainland China.

Next, to explain the characteristics of the department with "persistence," expression, understanding, and communication are completed from the acquisition of Chinese with a stable and constant composition of faculty for more than 20 years. Therefore, students majoring in our department were able to cultivate various content production abilities derived from creative and stable Chinese. This proves his performance in various fields that he entered after graduation. In addition, the characteristic of having a Chinese major with "connection" is that it is easier to connect with other majors than any other major. In other words, you can major in Chinese and minor in other languages, and double majors in other humanities or social sciences are also very appropriate. It can also be proved that this fact is very positive in the case of students majoring in Chinese and interested in other fields so far. In the future, rather than unilaterally transferring knowledge to students by introducing innovative teaching methods, students will also introduce a method of solving problems in a creative way through discussions between professors and students, and between students and students. Chinese language students with these honed skills and expertise will develop their own thinking skills and grow into experts who meet the needs of a new era that crosses various fields.
