Welcome to our website!
The knowledge society of the 21st century needs talent who can integrate and deeply insight into various and convergent reasons based on creative and autonomous capabilities from fast and dynamic changes. In order to actively cope with change, it is very important to give opportunities to explore various studies and majors and experiment with potential by insight into one's aptitude, interest, and talent after entering college. The department born in this regard is the School of Liberal Studies(SLS) at Korea National University of Transportation(KNUT).
There is a big different process between the school of liberal studies(SLS) and other major departments at KNUT. Students at SLS can take individual classes in various liberal arts, convergence, and major subjects during their first-year. It means that students at SLS have an occasion to explore various studies and to choose their major freely. Through this special first-year process, the students at SLS can develop more flexible academic adaptability and find the direction of their own aptitude, and get a help to choose major. The students at SLS can choose freely their departments and majors when they are promoted to the second grade. (except for some departments)
While students in SLS are exploring their own talents for 1 year, responsible guidance professors share the process. All freshmen are like rough gemstones, so they are already valuable in themselves, but they can become more sparkling and shiny if they are processed according to their characteristics. The responsible responsible guidance professor system of SLS focuses on the "identification of characteristics" of each gemstone, not on the "gemstone processing", and it helps all students in SLS make right major choices that match their talents. The main goal of the SLS at KNUT is not just to support excellent education, but to creatively realize the new educational model required by this era and to realize individualized education, and the responsible teaching system is part of such education.
Thank you.
