Food & Nutrition is a science that scientifically identifies the most fundamental diet for human survival, and how individuals and society need to maintain their diet in order to live a healthy life. In Korea, professional education has been started around universities since 1960, and it is a growing science with various achievements in the academic field and industry as a whole due to the endless passion and efforts of professionals working in various fields. Especially in recent years, since the risk of westernized eating habits, stress, and irregular life has increased day by day, the importance of life and health care has been emphasized, and expectations for the role of food and nutrition are growing.

 

In order to be faithful to the social mission of the discipline, this major focuses on cultivating human resources capable of leading and practicing changes and innovations. Based on systematic education for the training of experts, we are making every efforts to ensure that our students take the lead in proper diet management and propagation in each position of society after graduation by organizing the industry-linked programs such as a variety of training and excursions, and certification acquisition. Thanks to the efforts and enthusiastic participation of graduates and students, this major has produced many professionals and has become an expert in food service and food development.

Introduction

Food & Nutrition is a science that scientifically identifies the most fundamental diet of human survival, and acquires relevant expertise and skills to contribute to the promotion of human health.

 

This major is largely divided into the food/foodservice sector that study the stages from food production to handling, consumption and provision, and the nutrition sector that identify the role of food nutrients for the development, growth, function of human and prevention of various diseases, and scientifically derive dietary factors. As such, Food & Nutrition is valuable in many ways as an applied science dealing with diet and health promotion. In addition, the role of Food & Nutrition is highly expected at a time when interest in health is increasing as living standards improve and life expectancy is extended, and the desire for diet and its management to lead a healthy life from infancy to the elderly is diversified.

 

Food & Nutrition students can enter the nutrition sector as foodservice nutritionists, clinical nutritionists, nutrition teachers and nutrition counselors, and a student who wishes to work in the food sector may be in charge of food development, quality control, hygiene management, research, marketing, and research work of food and nutrition research institutes of food companies. In the foodservice, you can also play a pivotal role as a dietary-related expert in society as a whole by entering into management, management, and marketing.

 

Finally, this major is striving to educate future experts who can lead and practice changes and innovations in the global era through the operation of various non-subject programs such as laboratory operation/academic presentations, special lectures on national examinations and certificates, industry filed trips and industrial personnel special lectures, and nutrition education volunteer activities in the local community.
