Introduction

The recent Fourth Industrial Revolution is driving changes in all industrial environments, and at the core of these changes lie Information and Communication Technology (ICT) technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things, and Big Data. This paradigm shift is leading prominent IT companies in South Korea to transition from a hardware-centric focus to a software-centric one. Additionally, the software industry is being recognized as a high-value sector that enhances the country's competitiveness and leads the future knowledge-based society in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The government is responding promptly to these changes by implementing various policies and investing significantly in software-related industries and workforce development. As a result, there is an expected explosive demand for professionals in the software field.

 

The Computer Software Department, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and educational environments, provides comprehensive education covering various aspects of software development, including planning, analysis, design, programming, and testing. Moreover, through education in key ICT technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution such as Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things, and Big Data, the department nurtures excellent professionals capable of working in various fields of software development.

Outstanding Department Evaluation: The Computer Software Department has been consistently recognized as an excellent department based on factors such as student employment rates, faculty research achievements, external projects and industry collaborations, and student admission rates. As of 2019, it has maintained the top rank within the college for six consecutive years, and from 2021 to 2023, it continues to hold the number one position.

 

State-of-the-Art Lecture Halls and Lab Equipment: With advancements in hardware technology, the lifecycle of equipment is becoming shorter. The department secures top-quality equipment through participation in various external workforce development projects, aiming to maximize the effectiveness of student experiments and practical training through well-equipped and advanced lecture halls.

 

Establishment of Strong Industry-Academia Cooperation: To maximize student employability through industry-oriented practical education programs and promote technical and personnel exchanges between the university and industry, the department has established strong industry-academia cooperation networks, not only in the Chungcheong area but also nationwide. It maintains collaboration with excellent IT companies in the Seoul metropolitan area and nationwide through (non-profit organizations) Interaction, consisting of CIOs from top IT companies. Additionally, it maintains cooperation with industry associations such as the Chungcheong ICT Industry Association and the Chungcheong ICT Association, representing prominent IT-related industries in the Chungcheong region.

It nurtures program design skills centered around the chosen programming language, enabling students to analyze problems, design programs, and implement them. The course covers data structures, input/output, flow control of program execution, and subprogram usage, including practical programming exercises.
