Department of Electronic Engineering

The Department of Electronic Engineering is a field that researches and develops advanced technologies such as semiconductors (materials and devices), wireless communications, digital and computer, and control engineering, and is also a central field that will lead the knowledge information society of the 21st century. The field of electronic engineering has produced engineers who play a central role in the IT industry for several decades, and its role and status are expected to continue to be maintained now and in the future.

The recent development direction of information and communication technology shows a ubiquitous and convergence trend, which means that information, devices, communication, control, and computing are combined in a complex way to create multi-functional and unlimited functions. In electronic engineering, by studying academic elements such as semiconductors, devices (displays, sensors, etc.), communication, control, and computers in a balanced manner, we can obtain a broad understanding of the IT field and respond very effectively to ubiquitous and convergence technologies. In this respect, the field of electronic engineering plays an important role in supporting technological development in the current knowledge and information society, and is a field worth challenging as a young engineer.

By studying the academic elements of semiconductors, communications, control, and computers in a balanced manner, the Department of Electronic Engineering provides students with a broad understanding of the IT field and can pursue a variety of career paths after graduation. In particular, in the semiconductor field, many of the country's leading semiconductor-related companies, semiconductor equipment and materials-related companies, and solar cell companies are located in the Chungbuk region, so there are many employment opportunities for graduates of the department.

The Department of Electronic Engineering has been doing its best in operating a variety of curricula to help current students find employment and career paths, conducting activities to help quality employment (employment lectures, individual practical ability improvement support programs, etc.), and activating the operation of the electronics-related family company system. We will do our best to support our students. If you have any questions or suggestions related to your major, please contact the department office at any time.

Introduction

The Department of Electronic Engineering is a department that integrates the conventional electronic engineering major and the information and communication/robotics engineering major. We are specialized in the traditional electronic engineering, information and communication engineering, and robotics engineering fields. In addition, we are also conducting education and research in the field of deep learning, autonomous vehicles, advanced robotics, internet of things, which are attracting attention as the fourth industrial revolution, and solar energy, which is in the spotlight as an alternative energy source.

The major curriculum is operated by track, and the department has six curriculum tracks, including semiconductors/energy, embedded systems, robots, power electronics, autonomous vehicles, and 5G communications, and each track provides not only expertise and practical skills, but also communication skills. By educating students with both ability and harmonious character, we help them find employment in a wide range of fields after graduation.

Features of the curriculum include industry-customized education, student-customized education, and ABEEK (Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea). Industry-customized education is achieved through curriculum composition and joint education between industry and academia based on industrial demand. Student-customized education includes guidance on job selection and operation of extracurricular curriculum according to each student’s aptitude and core competencies. In addition, our department's curriculum is a certified engineering curriculum that satisfies all requirements required by the Korea Accreditation Board for Engineering Education, and graduates can enjoy all the benefits of certification at home and abroad.

creative Korea (CK-1) project in 2016 supervised by the Ministry of Education and operated the “ICT Convergence Human Resources Development Project for Future Vehicles” until early 2019, through which the quality of education has been dramatically improved.

In addition, since 2019, we have participated in LINC+ (Leaders in INderstry-university Cooperation) project supervised by the Ministry of Education as the host department of the Smart IT Components Industry Center, nurturing talents with high adaptability to the field through various industry-academia-linked curricula.

In 2021, we moved to the newly completed ‘Smart ICT Building’ and have been conducting education and research in a better environment.
